In the 2008 Beijing Games, Dara Torres (age 41) was “the oldest swimmer in Olympic history”. She took home three silvers, beating out kids half his age.
This was his second comeback from zero. An Olympian swimmer 40? Unheard of.
Women’s Health wrote, “Her body is insane… [And seven years after the Sydney Games], she looks leaner, stronger and not a day older.”
Four years later, during the 2012 Summer Olympic trials, Dara (now 45) disqualified by a mere 0.09 seconds. That is literally faster than the blink of an eye.
She didn’t want to go to London. But Dara, London would’ve been the cherry on top. She’s already won 12 Olympic medals — compete in the five Games since 1984.

How did this middle-aged mother, (who had reconstructive knee surgery — no less), “comeback” so many times and win as often?

But if you’ll just give me the benefit of doubt the next few moments – I will prove to you, at all, – how sports science, lab results, and lifestyle models back up every claim I have made so far… and!
But first let me introduce myself…
I’m Dr. Eric Cobb, co-founder, president and CEO of Z-Health Performance Solutions, LLC.
What we do in Z-Health – in essence – is show people how to perform at higher levels. What is that says… getting fit, exercising right, managing pain, healing and avoiding injury.

GPS how the human body ages
What I mean by this? I mapped out what others call the “natural process of the aging body”… And I know how slow and vice versa, that… To give people a “new lease” on life filled with youthful energy, flexibility and strength.
Let me explain –
You may be using GPS (Global Positioning Satellite) in the drink now. That may not be — it work, link at least three satellites… before it can give you driving directions.
Now, if only one of these three links has knocked out — the GPS stops working. If the link is weak, you may get the dreaded “searching for satellites…”messages while you drive in circles and lost.
When this happens, you end up wasting time, energy, and food. In a way, this scenario ages of your car.
Now – through intense research, and while reading an article on tennis legend Bjorn Borg many years ago… I found the human body is similar to the system of three satellites.
Think of your body as a car. You are the driver. The brain is the GPS.
The three “satellites” that guide you on how to move your body your… the visual system, inner ear balance system (vestibular) and body movement awareness system (proprioception).
And if any one of these “satellites” links become weak, or becomes out-of-alignment… the body can deal with the pain, stiffness, inflexibility, and loss of power. Is the body’s way of telling you, “something is wrong”, or “I’m getting mixed signals”.
But wait — you can ask, “What does this really reversing the effects of aging? How can I get fit, stay slim and live life?”

You see, here’s the funny…
We probably rely on our sense of sight is more than any other sense. But completely taken for granted… And in many ways, bad!

This list of questions that sound like “effects of aging” doesn’t it? But besides — why the body react this way? Who would have thought that needing glasses can cause chronic pain?
It’s quite simple, really. When your eyesight is poor you overcompensate with other parts of the body.
Let me explain…
You stick your neck out to see better. You change your gait to walk without falling. You jut of the jaw. You move your head instead of your eyes to see something. In other words, you change your center of gravity and redistribute weight… In order to better.
All of these little changes that happen without noticing. In fact, you can do right now as you read this on your laptop, computer, ipad, or iPhone.
And all these changes — these small adjustments — to build over time… Your posture becomes hunched, or “turtle like”. Your neck, shoulders and back, constant aches and pains. And after a while, you start to “feel old”.
What Happens When

This is — a vision is more important than most people think. Affects almost everything you do in the body.
Professional athletes understand this. That “eye training” is part of their exercise regimen. But why are athletes from the LAKERS, the NBA, NFL, PGA, UFC, and FIFA X-Games come to Z-Health to do better.
But how important is vision?

It’s not just about visual clarity. That’s what everyone looks at.
When you really think about it, you notice your vision is also…
Depth perception – with things in different distances
Peripheral range – seeing around you without moving your eyes
Saccadic movement – how fast and accurately your eyes move when you read or scan
Visual acuity – how clearly you see things
Color and contrast discrimination – seeing separate objects
In fact, vision also affects the brain, and how well you think!
Think about it. What your eyes do when you read? They process information. If you are not doing to improve the levels you end up around the knowledge, focus and energy!
