Don Meichenbaum, Ph. D., Distinguished Professor Emeritus at the University of Waterloo. Ontario, from which he retired early 20 years ago. He is currently the research Director of the Melissa Institute for violence prevention in Miami (see www.melissainstitute.org he is one of the founders of cognitive behavioral therapy.
In a survey of clinicians published in the American Psychologist, he was recognized as “one of the ten most influential psychotherapists of the twentieth century.”He received a lifetime achievement award from the clinical division of the American psychological Association and was an honorary President of the Canadian psychological Association.
He has performed in all 50 us States and abroad. He has published widely and most recently published the road map of resilience: a guide for war trauma victims and their families (visit www.roadmaptoresilience. org). His other books include treating people with anger control and aggressive behavior problems; teaching stress vaccinations; promoting treatment adherence; and reviewing the unconscious.
He has advised various populations, including veterans ‘ hospitals, the National guard, psychiatric treatment centers for children, adolescents, and adults, treatment centers for people with traumatic brain injuries, torture victims, local populations, the deaf, and school boards.
