Byron Katie – Introduction to the Work
Description
A Simple But Powerful Practice
As we do the work of Byron Katie, we not only remain attentive to our stressful thoughts—those that cause all the anger, sadness, and frustration in our world—but we question them, and through this questioning, thoughts lose their power over us. Great spiritual texts describe what it means to be free. Work is the how. It shows you exactly how to identify and question any thought that would prevent you from this freedom.
How to get the job done
practice
Each stage of the work is meditation. To begin with, dive into immobility and observe what is happening in the eyes of the mind. Now allow Labor to work you.
Notice
Who or what bothers you, makes you angry or saddens you? Why? Reminder of a specific situation.
Painful emotions are the temple bells that wake you up to say “ ” it’s time to get the job done.”
Write
Capture your stressful thoughts on a spreadsheet with the help of short and simple sentences.
Once the mind is stopped on paper, the thoughts remain stable and the survey can easily be applied.
Question
Isolating and questioning a thought-allowing authentic answers to arise.
A question is an invitation to mind, an opportunity to show what is true, beyond what we think we know.
Turn Around
Find the opposites of thought. Are they as true or truer than original thought?
Turnovers give consciousness the opportunity to expand, rather than being stuck in a limited reality.
The Nine Days
School for work
School is your school. Byron Katie is there with you every day, every session, to guide you into the deep places of work.
It is a school of stillness, presence and meditation on the thoughts that have limited and restrained you in your relationships and at work. It is an opportunity to discover the cause of all suffering and how to end it. Most participants describe these nine days as the most important days of their lives.

Videos offer a way to get acquainted with the work. While you watch, stand still and listen to a similar moment in your life. Notice what arises in your mind. It is possible to do your own work as a witness to the work of others. You may come to find that there are no new stressful thoughts.

An invitation to the inquiry
Welcome to work
I discovered that when I believed my thoughts, I suffered, but when I did not believe them, I did not suffer, and that this is true for every human being. Freedom is that simple. I found that suffering is optional. I found in me a joy that never disappeared, not a single moment. This joy is in everyone, always. And I invite you not to believe me. I invite you to test it for yourself.
