Hwa Rang Do has a wide arsenal of techniques that deal with the issue of takedowns. His combat strategy focuses on incapacitating the opponent with a single move. However, in Hwa Rang Do we also believe that there is more than one way of doing things, as the Um/Yang theory indicates and therefore offers unlimited options for all situations that one may encounter in combat.
Although the manipulation of joints is not often seen as a technique of toppling, Hwa Rang Do, thanks to its extensive knowledge of joints and human anatomy, both for wounding and healing, is able to effectively apply joint locks , to take the opponent to the ground.
