Ben settle: [talking about his early days of copywriting] … just think: \”I need to go to the second shift\” because now I had all this time at work, where, Yes, I do work, but I also study copywriting and marketing and write ads. At the time, I spent a lot of time handwriting ads – Doberman Dan: Sorry to interrupt. Did you really do it?
Ben Settle: Yes.
Doberman Dan: that\’s great. I\’m sorry. Go on, because I tell people to do it all the time, but very few actually do it.
Ben settle: Yes, what I would do is a big part of my education. … I would just write the ads by hand. … I mean, it\’s just a great way to get your head around how to structure ads and stuff like that.
Doberman Dan: Wow, I didn\’t know you did all this, but a lot of people were told to do it, and they don\’t, but you did it. Look at the result: you\’ve been doing this for a living for quite some time.
Ben Settle: … I believe that copying ads is necessary, but the problem is that most people are not interested in it. So if someone really likes it, they probably won\’t do it.

Dan writes:
He copied successful people who did exactly what he wanted. Donald said he didn\’t learn to write while in College (let\’s get this straight), instead he started typing verbatim his favorite stories by authors like Hemmingway, Flannery O\’conner, and others. Who says we don\’t have the opportunity to learn directly from the best and most talented? He did this for several years. Link to the site
… And these authors might even improve their learning if they wrote books by hand. Recent news headline:
\”Mediocrity rules the market»
A chance meeting with an extremely successful underground marketer recently gave me extremely effective advice.
He told me … \” mediocrity rules the market.\” Most people will never take the time to get better at what they do. They are content with mediocre abilities and mediocre results.
So the rare 1% who invest time, even if it\’s only a little bit, is completely removed… almost effortlessly.
When you actually sit down and do this exercise … this is deceptively difficult.
That is, theoretically, it is easy to do. But in practice… not really.
It\’s a lot like a gym.
