The NEW Definition of “Hard Work”“You’re not working hard enough…”How many times have you been told that in your life by some “workout guru” or personal trainer? To be quite honest… I am sick and tired of hearing people say that…The first time I heard this was like a punch to the gut as it echoed through my head for the next several weeks…I want to tell you a quick story… A story that led me to the discovery what I will be sharing with you on this page today… A story that will allow you to transform your body by properly utilizing “hard work” and the key missing element that goes with it…See, years ago when my coach first said “you are not working hard enough…” I took it as an invitation to workout longer and more times per day. I didn’t even bother to listen to the second half of his statement (something I will reveal in just a second…)It wasn’t until a few weeks later when my body broke down and nearly gave up on me during a workout that I realized I was doing things completely backwards…What I was missing was that key second part of the “you are not working hard enough” statement that I really needed to listen to…When my coach said this… He did NOT mean that I needed to workout more or for longer periods of time. What he meant was actually the complete opposite.
He wanted me to understand that in order to get stronger, faster, quicker, and to become a better overall athlete, every rep and every set needed to be worth something.
AT21It didn’t matter if I practiced for 2-straight hours if I was only truly focused for the first 30-minutes… After you lose focus you are just going through the motions…Listen, you may feel this way in your workouts right now and I want you to know that this is NOT your fault.
You have simply been misled about how to truly work hard…Think about this… You plan out your workout and you know it is going to last for at least 2 hours because you think that is what it takes to get in great shape…Do you really believe that you can sustain constant “full speed” and full energy the entire time?Of course you can’t.
At some point (usually right around the 30-minute mark), your body starts breaking down and you lose focus.
Reps and sets become less important and are put on “autopilot” as you just go through the motions in your workout…Sure you may still sweat and breathe hard but the results aren’t going to be anything near what they should be if you focused on every set and rep.
Your body and mind can only handle so much in a given period of time.
This is the reason your mind will start wondering after a certain point when you are reading or studying… It simply loses focus…It’s the same for your workouts…AT22After a certain point, you lose focus mentally AND physically.
Looking back to when my coach first said this to me… I should have paid closer to the second part of the sentence… What my coach really said was this:“You are not working hard enough… But more importantly, you are not working SMART enough.”I was already a hard worker, just like you, so when I heard my coach say this… Naturally I gravitated towards “I am not working hard enough…”When the reality was… I just needed to figure out how to work smarter.
See, once you figure out how to hone in on what your body is asking of you in your workouts… You will discover how to cut your workouts down by 75% or more and see BETTER results…Within the past year or so, I have been studying the workouts of sprinters to see what it is that they are doing that allows them to define their physiques so well. After studying and observing, I noticed that through a 10-20 minute workout period, they spent only about 20% of that in “work-mode.”
What I mean is they spent about 2 out of every 10-minutes “working” in their workouts.
The reason they are able to see such great results is because of the way they strategically use what I call the “AT²” method in their training…In a study I have referenced in the past, done by Experimental Biology, researchers found that the closer you work near your anaerobic threshold… The more fat utilization occurs.
AT23
This means that the harder your can push your body for a short period of time, the more fat you will burn…A sprinter is a perfect example of this. Instead of trying to push all out for 10 straight minutes, they push the anaerobic threshold for about 20% of the time, then rest… or do less intense exercises to “recover.”
This is what allows them to build such amazing physiques while working out for a fraction of the time that people spend at the gym. This is what we call working hard AND smart.
Working Hard AND Smart With “AT²”studyListen, when it comes to rapidly changing your physique… It doesn’t matter how long or how much you workout if you are not doing it properly.
Like a sprinter, if you learn how to manipulate the fat burning that is taking place in your body right now… You can double or even triple your fat burning by “working” LESS. In fact, by designing workouts in the proper fashion and strategically pushing your anaerobic threshold… You can burn a ton of fat in as little as 11-minutes.
Your body responds differently to different workout signals that you send it and with the way the AT² workouts are designed… You will finally start sending the right fat burning signals to your body starting with the very first workout…Please listen… You ARE currently working hard enough in your workouts…Understand though that it takes more than just plain ol’ hard work… It takes a combination of hard work AND smart work in order to see drastic improvement in your fitness levels.
The only question now is:Are you willing to work both hard AND smart to drastically change your physique by spending less time in the gym?
